🚨 ROGUE TRADERS OPERATING IN TRAFFORD - PLEASE BE VIGILANT 🚨

We are urging residents to be alert following an increase in reports of rogue traders posing as gardeners and tree surgeons across Trafford. These individuals typically knock on doors claiming they are carrying out work nearby and have noticed that your property has:

🌳 Overhanging branches
🌳 Dangerous limbs
🌳 Trees requiring urgent maintenance

They will often offer to carry out the work immediately and may significantly reduce their original quote to secure the job, sometimes offering to do the work for as little as £30.

⚠️ The scam begins once the work is completed.

After cutting down branches, the traders demand payment but leave all of the waste on the property. When residents question this, they claim that removing the waste was not included in the agreed price and then demand excessive additional fees for disposal. In some cases, victims have reported being quoted as much as £100 per kilo to remove the cuttings. Residents can feel pressured into paying far more than they originally agreed.

Protect Yourself

✅ Do not agree to doorstep offers from unsolicited traders.

✅ Always obtain written quotes from reputable and insured contractors.

✅ Check reviews and ask for references before agreeing to any work.

✅ Ensure all costs, including waste removal, are agreed in advance.

✅ Never feel pressured into making an immediate decision.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you are approached by suspected rogue traders or witness suspicious activity, please report it to us on 101. If a crime is taking place or there is an immediate threat, call 999.
